Mele Kalikimaka!

Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say
on a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day
That’s the island greeting that we send to you
from the land where palm trees sway…
Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright!
The sun to shine by day and all the stars at night!
Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii’s way
to say Merry Christmas to you! ~Bing Crosby

That’s the song that popped in my head when I saw these pretty-as-a-poinsettia Printed Pixie wedges from Tory Burch! Aren’t they festive & fabulous? Perfect for rocking around the Christmas tree!

A very Merry Merry Merry Christmas to you!

There’s a 99% chance that my beloved lab Misty & I were listening to our favorite family holiday soundtrack ~ Bing Crosby’s “Merry Christmas”!

Ching, Ching, to Champagne!

Happy National Champagne Day, darlings! What could be more perfect than a day devoted to celebrating something that was made for celebration?

Whether you choose to toast the occasion with a flute, coupe or magnum ~ at home, a fancy soiree, dancing on a decadent bar or (gasp!) in a giant champagne glass ~ be sure that bubbly is chilled, pretties!

A fizzy tip ~ if you take small sips and let the bubbles dissipate in your mouth, it will enhance the taste of the champagne, and you’ll feel much better in the morning.  Or, scratch that ~ and party like a rockstar à la Paul Newman.

“Champagne is the one thing that gives me zest when I feel tired.” ~Brigitte Bardot

Cary Grant + champagne = delicious combination.

 Bubbly Audrey with her bubbly.

Pop the fizzy, Mad Men style.

Just another day at Downton…

Oh, George. Cheers!

It’s rumored that Marilyn once took a luxurious bath in 350 bottles of champagne.

You had me at Hubbell. I’ll drink to that…

“My only regret in life is that I didn’t drink enough Champagne.” ~John Maynard Keynes

Fashion Mashup!

A fashion mashup is slated for this holiday season and it’s poised to pack a pretty punch! Department store doyenne Neiman Marcus has collaborated with mass-market maven Target to bring a fabulous 50-piece collection to their stores and online December 1st. “This is kind of groundbreaking,” Neiman Marcus’s president and CEO, Karen Katz, told WWD. “We’ve set the stage for a redefining moment in retail,” agreed Gregg Steinhafel, Target’s President and CEO.

The collection will include clothing (for men, women and children), accessories, sporting, pet and home goods. The cost of items will range from $7.99 – $499, but most will be under $60. Can’t wait to see what they have up their leather-gloved sleeve!

The icing on the cupcake? Designers include CFDA superstars Diane von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Altuzarra, Band of Outsiders, Brian Atwood, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, Robert Rodriguez, Rodarte, Marchesa, Tory Burch, Alice + Olivia, Judith Leiber, and Tracy Reese.

In addition to creating a festive frenzy of fashion, Target and Neiman Marcus will donate a total of $1 million dollars to the CFDA. “I can think of no better finale to CFDA’s 50th anniversary celebration than through this extraordinary designer collaboration,” said CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg.

Color me crazy-excited like Target Lady for this collaboration!

Color Me Coco Blanca

The first time I traipsed my tootsies into Coco Blanca at National Harbor it was as if I’d floated in on a sea breeze of peaceful prettiness. The open, airy atmosphere mixed with the crisp and cool white motif was dreamy, and its location across the street from my old office was the icing on the cupcake.

I walked by the day the boutique opened, and was immediately drawn through the doors to a sea of gorgeous furniture, home décor, jewelry and other gems ~ perfectly placed with a Parisian seaside flea market flair.  I’m a bonafide beach lover so I was having crystal-clear visions of one of everything in my dream beach house.

As I wandered through the breezy space, my style icon radar went off when I spotted the book Fifth Avenue, 5 a.m., about my style darling Audrey and the making of one of my most favorite films, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It was kismet.

I was over the moon with my find and thrilled when the lovely and talented owners, Gayla and Elisabeth, told me I was their first customer! When they asked if I would mind waiting a few minutes while they finished setting up the register ~ I was more than happy to linger and browse some more…

While I waited, I spied a beautiful white pristine porcelain pineapple in the window. It was love at first sight and I had to have it! It sits on my desk today as I type, and serves as a welcome inspiration for bright days of promise and pretty things.

Who is Coco Blanca, you may wonder? Her site says “Imagine Papa Hemingway and Audrey Hepburn had a love child born in a Paris flea market…” ~ quel imagination!

Whether you’re looking to pretty up a room or special space ~ or find a special something for that special someone or a treat for yourself ~ you won’t be disappointed! Every visit to Coco Blanca is a treat.

Add this gem to your weekend plans! Non-local lovelies can check out the chic and charming site.  Be warned: you will have to flex your purse string muscles if you hope to walk out of there empty-handed.
