Closet Chameleon

“I like my money where I can see it… hanging in my closet.” ~Carrie Bradshaw

I’m an extremely visual and observant girl. I rarely miss a trick. I have terrific instincts but still prefer to see things with my own two peepers whenever possible.

So when it’s time for my seasonal closet switch ~ if I can’t see my fab frocks, boots, pumps, flats, coats, or skirts right when I walk in ~ it’s out of sight, out of mind. Which is why it’s so important to showcase all your pretty pieces as prominently as possible from season to season ~ lights to darks, sleeveless to long-sleeves, minis to maxis ~ it makes it easier to see everything, my pretties.

If space is an issue you can get creative with storage ~ ballet flats in the fridge? Mais oui! Then put them on and pirouette out the door since you won’t be eating at home much anymore.

A well-organized closet not only makes life less stressful, but it will make you look forward to ~ rather than dread ~ getting dressed…

Especially if you follow one of the golden rules of wardrobe styling ~ only buy pieces that you LOVE.

Life is too short for bad outfits!

Fall Forecast: Foxy & Feline

I’m a cheerleader for confidence and individual style, so silly “no white after Labor Day” rules bore me to tears. Speaking of Labor Day (le boo hoo hoo) where did those summer nights go?

Each year when summer sizzles away and fall flutters in, I have images of tweed, tights, turtlenecks and tall boots dancing in my head. Something about the clear & cool autumn air demands a wardrobe just as crisp ~ and conjures up images of style icons at their fall finest…

Audrey, in all of her leopard and scarlet glory.

Jetset style at Heathrow ~ chocolate suede coat by Givenchy, brown suede boots by Charles Jourdan, Louis Vuitton bag.

Mademoiselle Deneuve ~ haute headscarf & coat ~ check & check.

White satin collar over black & classic bun ~ yes & yes.

YSL Muse ~ wool funnel neck shift, patterned tights, metallic flats.

Grace ~ pristine in green, one of Fall 2012′s hot hues.

Natalie ~ lovely in leopard. Love her studded cuff bracelet.

Twiggy ~ satin creme collar over black with fab (faux) fur.

Jackie ~ the classic black ribbed turtleneck never looked so chic.

Pea coat, signature shades & scarf.

Ladylike in leopard.

Love Marianne Faithfull’s boho-chic style ~ crushed velvet & lace minidress, suede boots, crochet Peter Pan collar.

Très glam threesome! Ali MacGraw, Dyan Cannon and Natalie Wood rocking va-va-voom velvet, knit and brocade.

So many elements of the styles above are popping their pretty heads up again this season and they’re all yours for the flaunting ~ leather, lace, leopard, tweed, velvet, peplums and Peter Pan collars, to name a few. Also keep an eye out for a twist on animal print ~ with prrr-worthy accents like foxy little foxes & feline-faced kittycats.

I’m all about the fashion mashup ~ mix a little bit of this with a little bit of that to put a personal stamp on your style. Even as a little girl I loved to mix it up when I played dress-up. Cookie cutter copycats are très cliché so rock your own unique look, kittens!
