My lovely & stylish Sis alerted me this afternoon that the cover of Vanity Fair’s September Style issue has been revealed, and that one of our favorite style darlings is gracing the cover as #1 Best-Dressed ~ the darling Duchess, Kate Middleton! A well deserved honor, in my non-royal humble opinion.
Not to be outdone in the world of September Issues, Vanity Fair has doubled your enjoyment by printing not one, but two covers. The scarlett-tressed Jessica Chastain will follow in Kate’s fashionable footsteps and grace cover number deux…
I’m a fan of the chic Ms. Chastain, but if my personal copy doesn’t feature The Duchess on the cover, I’ll have a royal fit. In the meantime you can get your regal fix with this look and others from Kate’s royal catwalk.
The issue contains the full 2012 International Best Dressed List and includes style-setters Diane Kruger, Matt Lauer, and red-hot royal Prince Harry. Here are some snaps of my faves:
Oh, look at that ~ Prince Harry again!
It also includes my absolute favorite photog and national treasure, Bill Cunningham. He shares street style and fancy fashion through his camera lens and sharp sartorial eye, while pedaling through NYC on his red Schwinn in his trademark royal blue Parisian workman’s jacket. Not only is he extremely talented, knowledgeable and style savvy, but he’s a kind and all around spectacular human being.

Happy Birthday ~ and a re-post ~ in honor of one of my favorite style darlings!
The charming, classy and impeccably stylish Tim Gunn was fashionably born fifty some odd years ago today. Happy Birthday, Tim! J’adore you & your fabulous self.
To mark this auspicious occasion, I’ve compiled a list of favorite Tim-isms. Whether commenting on the work of Project Runway designers, praising or admonishing celebrity style, or extolling the virtues of good taste – nobody says it like Tim can…
“Men don’t wear jeggings!”
“Holla atcha boy”
“It looks like a pterodactyl from a gay Jurassic park.”
“This concerns me.”
On Hillary Clinton: “I think she’s confused about her gender.”
On library books: “Call me a schoolmarm, but few things make me angrier than people not taking good care of library materials.”
On the ideal party guest: “I also like having at least one person around who is widely disliked among your crowd of lovely people. You never know who’s going to get along with whom, but you do know people need someone to gossip about later, and you don’t want it to be you.”
On Lady Gaga’s outfits: “Who would want to emulate that? It’s not fashion. Those are costumes.”
On Lindsay Lohan designing for Ungaro: “It’s got to be a publicity stunt. Or a crack-smoking board of directors?”
On the Kardashian line for Bebe: “I just think the Kardashians have an absence of taste and I don’t think that that should be perpetuated. I’m sorry I’m sounding like an old farty, snob, but it bothers me.”
“A couture post-office uniform is not going to work.”
“The whole thing looks like faux bois.”
“Chop, chop, chop!”
“That looks like a halter-diaper.”
“What is that?”
“Go, go, go!”
“Is it wowable?”
“Good morning, designers!”
“Gather round, designers!”
“It is kind of an uh-oh.”
“What a conundrum.”
“Don’t bore Nina.”
“I am woeful about this look.”
“Remember someone is going to be out, so don’t make it you.”
“Make it work.”
“Trying and achieving are two different things.”
“I believe treating people well is a lost art.”
“When did you go Grecian on us?”
“That’s the fabric?”
“You’ll have 30 minutes at Spandex House.”
“It’s very Golden Girls.”
“It’s a little Wonder Woman.”
“It’s like Eva Gabor in Green Acres.”
“You don’t want it to be too Judy Jetson.”
“Well you don’t want it to be vulgar.”
‘I want to see greatness!”
“She looks like an elongated marshmallow.”
“What are you doing? This is such wretched excess.”
“This is NOT fashion camp.”
“You are really rocking ‘Halloween’ here.”
“I’ve made more bad decisions at 3 in the morning than I can list!”
“Don’t think too much.”
“If that’s the kind of you look you want…well you sure have a good one.”
“Well I’ll say it’s definitely not boring…”
“We are fabulous. We don’t have to meet anyone fabulous.”
You can catch Tim on Project Runway Thursdays on Lifetime. Season 10
Season 9 premiered last night is off with a bang and Tim, Heidi, Michael and Nina are in top form – oh how I’ve missed them! All is right in the world now that I’m back together with my favorite fashionable TV family. Looking forward to the most fabulous season yet!
Merci, Tim, for making the world a sunnier, more stylish place!

And the old red white and blue…”
~Wonder Woman theme song
In between flipping through all things Olympic on Flipboard, I skipped over to entertainment news and saw that Lynda Carter was born today. Happy Birthday, Wonder Woman!
She strutted onto the screen in red knee-high boots to play the first female television superhero and became a 1970s sensation. I remember watching Wonder Woman as a tween and loved her patriotic costume.
She could change from her alter ego, Diana Prince, and spin herself into a sassy superhero…
Then sprint, high-kick or high-jump herself out of harm’s way ~ all while maintaining her minx-like mane and ruby red lipgloss.
With multiple outfit changes per episode, it was like watching real-life Fashion Plates as Wonder Woman would spin herself into her superhero threads. The best part was guessing how she would fight her foes ~ would she snare them with her golden lasso? Toss her bejeweled boomerang crown and thwart the villains? Or try the combo high-kick & toss?
My personal favorite was her gold bullet-proof wrist cuffs…
Wonder Woman’s accessories would be stylishly in sync with today’s trends. She even knew how to rock the nautical look ~ just check out her slick seafaring swimsuit! She would be perfectly suited for the Summer Games.
Speaking of perfectly suited…
Hello, handsome… and Go Team U-S-A!

A fashion mashup is slated for this holiday season and it’s poised to pack a pretty punch! Department store doyenne Neiman Marcus has collaborated with mass-market maven Target to bring a fabulous 50-piece collection to their stores and online December 1st. “This is kind of groundbreaking,” Neiman Marcus’s president and CEO, Karen Katz, told WWD. “We’ve set the stage for a redefining moment in retail,” agreed Gregg Steinhafel, Target’s President and CEO.
The collection will include clothing (for men, women and children), accessories, sporting, pet and home goods. The cost of items will range from $7.99 – $499, but most will be under $60. Can’t wait to see what they have up their leather-gloved sleeve!
The icing on the cupcake? Designers include CFDA superstars Diane von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Altuzarra, Band of Outsiders, Brian Atwood, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, Robert Rodriguez, Rodarte, Marchesa, Tory Burch, Alice + Olivia, Judith Leiber, and Tracy Reese.
In addition to creating a festive frenzy of fashion, Target and Neiman Marcus will donate a total of $1 million dollars to the CFDA. “I can think of no better finale to CFDA’s 50th anniversary celebration than through this extraordinary designer collaboration,” said CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg.
Color me crazy-excited like Target Lady for this collaboration!
