Color Me Coco Blanca
The first time I traipsed my tootsies into Coco Blanca at National Harbor it was as if I’d floated in on a sea breeze of peaceful prettiness. The open, airy atmosphere mixed with the crisp and cool white motif was dreamy, and its location across the street from my old office was the icing on the cupcake.
I walked by the day the boutique opened, and was immediately drawn through the doors to a sea of gorgeous furniture, home décor, jewelry and other gems ~ perfectly placed with a Parisian seaside flea market flair. I’m a bonafide beach lover so I was having crystal-clear visions of one of everything in my dream beach house.
As I wandered through the breezy space, my style icon radar went off when I spotted the book Fifth Avenue, 5 a.m., about my style darling Audrey and the making of one of my most favorite films, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It was kismet.
I was over the moon with my find and thrilled when the lovely and talented owners, Gayla and Elisabeth, told me I was their first customer! When they asked if I would mind waiting a few minutes while they finished setting up the register ~ I was more than happy to linger and browse some more…
While I waited, I spied a beautiful white pristine porcelain pineapple in the window. It was love at first sight and I had to have it! It sits on my desk today as I type, and serves as a welcome inspiration for bright days of promise and pretty things.
Who is Coco Blanca, you may wonder? Her site says “Imagine Papa Hemingway and Audrey Hepburn had a love child born in a Paris flea market…” ~ quel imagination!
Whether you’re looking to pretty up a room or special space ~ or find a special something for that special someone or a treat for yourself ~ you won’t be disappointed! Every visit to Coco Blanca is a treat.
Add this gem to your weekend plans! Non-local lovelies can check out the chic and charming site. Be warned: you will have to flex your purse string muscles if you hope to walk out of there empty-handed.
