The anticipation of each Fashion Color Report may actually exceed my glee for the arrival of my September Issues. I’m always giddy to see the chosen colors for each season ~ especially how the designers opt to translate the hues via chic illustrations for their collections. It’s the perfect picture book of pretty!
Rachel Roy ~ Pink Flambé
Her fall collection features a mix of “Urban architecture meets elements of nature.” Her must-have item? The dress. Pink Flambé and frocks ~ a girl after my own heart!
Nicole Miller ~ Rhapsody and Titanium
Her fall collection is inspired by “Listening to music from the ‘70s” and her must-have item is an alpaca vest in Plum and Pine.
Nanette Lepore ~ Pink Flambé and Bright Chartreuse
J’adore Lepore. Her inspiration this season stems from another collection, Francesco Clemente’s “The Tarots” at The Uffizi. Her must-have items ~ “Lots of shirts, a skirt with movement and a jacket with an elongated smoking shape.”
Charlotte Ronson ~ Titanium and Ultra Marine Green
Her seasonal inspiration stems from a “Free-spirited bohemian lifestyle…juxtaposed with a modern and sleek ‘70s silhouette.” Must have item ~ the Oba print slip dress.
James Coviello ~ Pink Flambé and Olympian Blue
His fall inspiration ~ “The quirky color combinations of early ‘60s interior decorations — think Olive refrigerator and Pink walls.” His lust-have is “A ‘60s inspired wool swing coat in an unexpected color such as Light Rust.”
Tracy Reese ~ French Roast and Tangerine Tango
The designer says, “I love looking at interiors for fabric and color inspiration.” Her can’t-live-without item is “A printed pencil skirt. I am loving this skirt right now and I want to wear colored and patterned bottoms.”
Ella Moss ~ Ultramarine Green
For the lovely Ms. Moss, Fall 2012 is “About ‘LOVE MAGIC’ — witches and warlocks, misty landscapes, love potions and dreamy skies set the mood for colors this season.” Her seasonal lust-have? “An Ella Moss dramatic high/low hem dress…it’s so easily transitional from late summer into the fall months.”
Tommy Hilfiger ~ Rhapsody and Olympian Blue
Love Tommy’s eternal prepster vibe! His inspiration for the season? “Classic prep meets military.” His must-have is “Military-inspired outerwear with a color blocking treatment in Zinfandel, Midnight Navy or Dijon.”
“All colors are the friends of their neighbors and the lovers of their opposites.” ~ Marc Chagall
